Description

Astra Spatial Group is a licensed surveying firm providing boundary, topographic, subdivision, construction setout, drone mapping, strata, as-built, and utility location services across New South Wales and South Australia. Their clients are developers, engineers, councils, and infrastructure firms. Surveying is a low-volume search industry — someone searching "subdivision survey Griffith" may be one of a handful of people making that search each month. But that person has a project ready to proceed and a job worth tens of thousands of dollars. Volume is irrelevant. Ranking for the right term in the right location is everything.

When Profit Drive began the engagement in July 2025, Astra was a newly independent business relying on a single partner company for approximately 75 to 80% of its work. The site averaged position 44 in Google and generated fewer than 500 impressions per month. There was no location-specific content, no lead tracking, and no meaningful organic presence in any of the markets Astra wanted to grow into. The brief was to build independent inbound demand from scratch.

Case overview

  • Low Volume, High Value — The campaign was not built around traffic. It was built around buyer intent. Every keyword target was chosen because a person searching that term in that location was likely ready to engage a surveyor on a high-value project.
  • Win One Market at a Time — Griffith and the Riverina region were identified as the strongest immediate opportunity. Location-specific service pages, targeted content, and a focused keyword strategy took Astra from zero presence to position 1 in that market.
  • Expand the Model — With Griffith performing and the client reporting over $100,000 in revenue from SEO leads, the same approach was applied to Adelaide. Early page 1 movement is already visible within weeks of that focus beginning.

The first phase built the national content foundation — service pages, educational articles, and targeted content covering the surveying terms buyers search when evaluating their options. Monthly impressions grew from 467 at launch to 25,700 by March 2026. Average ranking improved from position 44 to position 12. Organic search moved from a negligible source to the leading traffic channel at 55% of all sessions, ahead of direct and referral.

In February 2026, location-specific service pages for Griffith and the Riverina region went live targeting subdivision, boundary, irrigation, utility location, setout, and drone survey terms. The rankings moved quickly. By April 2026, Irrigation Survey Griffith, Subdivision Surveyor Griffith, Utility Location Griffith NSW, and Setout Survey Griffith NSW all reached position 1. Subdivision Survey Griffith and Boundary Survey Griffith sit at position 2. In Sydney, Astra ranks position 3 for boundary survey Sydney.

The enquiries followed the rankings. By 5 March 2026, Kris reported 6 to 7 Griffith enquiries since the location content went live, including residential subdivision work and a $25,000 rail opportunity — showing how strong Google visibility can also influence AI-assisted discovery. A prospect also cited a blog post about hidden surveying costs as the reason Astra seemed trustworthy before making contact. Since lead tracking launched in February 2026, 21 organic leads have been recorded and the client has attributed over $100,000 in revenue to those enquiries.

With Griffith performing, the Adelaide expansion began in April 2026. Land Division Survey Adelaide reached position 7 and Subdivision Survey Adelaide reached position 10 within weeks of focus. The client confirmed in May 2026 that most traffic and enquiries were coming through Griffith — the market the campaign was built to win first.

What We Delivered

The SEO campaign for Astra Spatial covered national keyword research and content strategy, location-specific service pages for Griffith, Riverina, and Adelaide, blog content targeting buyer education topics, technical SEO, internal linking, GA4 and Search Console tracking, lead tracking implementation, and ongoing weekly reporting.

  • Low volume, high value — Every keyword chosen for buyer intent, not traffic. A single won project covers more revenue than hundreds of consumer leads. The campaign was built around that reality from day one.
  • Location by location — The same model that won Griffith is now building in Adelaide. Targeted content, specific service pages, and focused keyword strategy applied market by market.
  • Visibility that compounds — From position 44 and 467 monthly impressions in July 2025 to position 12 and 25,700 impressions by March 2026. Organic is now Astra's leading traffic channel and the enquiry pipeline is still growing.
